I have a 2000 F150 4x4 sport which I recently purchased.
I want to get a Single CD Player with Stereo Receiver to replace the factory CD Receiver. Because of the unconventional size of the stereo (big and sqare.....) will I be able to mount a normal system with the proper faceplace?
I'm considering either the Sony Xploder (410 or the 510) model which I will purchase and have installed at Best Buy.
I recently installed a JVC KD-SX980 in my wifes Exploder.
It uses the same size stereo as your truck. I used a Scosche "pocket kit". Basically it gives you a small pocket under the stereo that you can fit a cd case in etc. The pocket takes up the extra room that the regular sized stereo doesnt use.
Any decent stereo shop should have these.
BTW I went with the JVC deck because of the price and I wanted an MP3 compatible deck. I read good reviews on it and we are really happy with it. It sure is nice being able to burn a CD with 120 MP3s on it. Six hours of music on 1 CD
Thanks for the info! I've got about 4000 MP3s.... hmmm.... I had completely forgotten about looking for a deck that can play them. I also like the idea of a storage bin in the dash as well, that could really come in handy. I think I need to squeeze in a trip to Best Buy tomorrow! heh heh heh
what are your plans for the current radio that you have installed? I am looking for a factory oem am/fm cd player for my 2000 f150. I now have the cassette version.
