pitman remove and reinstall question
I have a question Im going to install a 4" lift kit on my 2005 Super Duty V10 and wanted to know whats the right way to remove and reinstall the pitman arm? Im going to be installing a drop pitman arm and drop track bar. I was looking at an auto parts store and found the pitman arm puller but it only $15, sounds kinda cheap to me. Any good brands should I look for? Also I know that the pitman arm requires 350 ft/lb of torque and I have a torque wrench that goes to 300 ft/lb I was going to use that and then tighten it up a little past that. Also some guy at work told me to use my impact gun that has 700 ft/lb of torque but I dont think thats a good idea to use it? How about using the impact wrench to remove the pitman nut?
Also when I remove the pitman arm isn't that going to put a-lot of stress on the steering box?

I think for a 1 time use any pitman arm puller will work just make sure it fits around the arm. As far as it being hard on the steering box it doesnt put any pressure on the box the puller goes around the pitman arm and pushes against the output shaft. Not sure on torque values but I am sure someone will be along to help on that.
