losing power

i was wondering if anyone out there could possibly help me....on cold mornings I'll take off down the road and it will just start to lose power. If i stay on the gas it will shut down. If i let off it will idle again and after it runs for a few minutes it runs fine. The same thing has happened when i idle it up in the morning. i took it to two different garages after i completely lost power twice and it wouldn't restart. the first said the fuel gelled on a cold morning. the other said the alternator was producing too many amps since i was also having electrical problems. (which are now fixed)

Does it start fine? It sounds as if when it is warmed up it will run OK? It may be that several of your glow plugs are not working or one ofyour plug ins under the valve covers have backed out a little and gets a better curcuit when it is warmed up.

Any mods done? How cold? Drain your fuel bowl, there is a screen at the bottom. See if it's clean. Do you have any codes coming up-check engine light-or a code reader?

The truck starts fine every morning. and once its warmed up i don't have any problems. once i get about a quarter to half mile from my house i have not had any problems.

there are no mods, no chips, and no codes are coming up. the first time was around 5 degrees. it happened again this morning while idling and it was around 28 degrees.

Sounds like your EBPV is closing which it is designed to do to aid with cold weather warm ups. Does it sound like a jet engine?
