I am looking for an 2000-2004 f150 super cab or crew cab 4X4. I found this one (see link) I sold my 2000 mustang gt to get a truck and I was always a little woried about the 4.6 in my mustang with all the horror stories about the plastic intake cracking and spark plug blow out, can anyone tell me if these 03 f150's with 4.6 engine have the same problems? also please let me know what you think about the truck, I am going to offer $11,000
if your going to resist buying a car/truck of any make/ model because of a common problem then you may as well put away your keys/ drivers liscense and get a bicycle or a moped because no matter what you buy there is going to be a common problem with all of them. all that matters is that you like the truck and it what you want and need. I personally think 14k is a little much for a supercab even with the rims which add no aftermarket value to the truck what so ever. 10-11k sounds like a fair price for that truck with that low of miles. it reminds me alot of my old 2000 supercab
The engines are pretty rock solid in the trucks. That price is kind of high around my neck of the woods, although it's a clean looking truck!!! You can usually get the next body style for that price range here in TX.
I have bought two trucks from Texas and paid close to 2k less then I would of paid if I bought the truck in Florida. That includes the 600.00 it cost to ship it to me.
It looks pretty solid, and 11 seems like a good price, but don't go a cent higher. Before you give it a tuneup it will be time for a water pump/timing belt job. Good find!
do you guys think this would be better than the f150 if I could get it for $11,000 or $11,500, I want to try to get some thing with the lowest miles possible for my price range cause i will be keeping it for a long time and it will be my everyday driver.
i like them both but from my experience unless you have a really big family its always nice to have a pick up, i just bought an 03 f-150 supercrew 4.6l 6 months ago from a trucking company it was a road side repair truck i paid 3,000 for it with 200,000mi on it after getting it through md inspect the total was 3,800. it now has 216,300 on it, its a great truck so with the low miles that one has a lot of life left in it =]
If I had it to do all over again, I would have gotten a 5.4L. I have a 97 f-150 supercab with 4.6L and 5 spd. I am less than impressed with the power to mpg ratio with the 4.6L. I get 11-13. Alot of 5.4L gus are getting the same. Why not get more power for the milage? Just my $.02
I agree, I had the 4.6 in my 97 and it pulled it's self fine but once I put a trailer on back it sucked for power, I now have a 2002 f150 with the 5.4 and I pulled the 66 ford truck in my avatar on a car trailer up from oregon, it ran strong and had plenty of power. Get a 5.4
