Old vs New Headlight Bulbs?

Old vs New Headlight Bulbs?
I am curious if anybody has tried the new 6-volt halogen bulbs in place of the standard tungsten filiment headlight bulbs. I see them on Ebay claiming to be better than the standard bulb. If they are better, is it a slight improvement or very noticable. They cost about $40 a pair.

Also, has anybody tried the 6-volt LED taillight bulbs in place of the standard filiment?

On some of the old ford forums,this has been discussed and most agree the halogen lights draw too much current to be used with a old generator. Several have tried and had to go back to the older lights due to their battery's running down.
