Whats the largest spark plug gap you can run on a OEM ford ignition system?
would .05 be okay. I believe the plugs are spec'd at .044, but im wanting to add a little power and fuel efficancy if it was possible. Also goin to advance the timing to 14 BTDC as long as the motor allows it.
Most Ford coils that I have experienced will fire a .050 gap without issue. A wider gap is good for firing lean mixtures, but if it is too much, you will misfire under load, because the spark is not strong enough to fire the richer mixture.
Oh, I see you are running a 5.4L, I have not tried a wider gap on a COP motor. I have always set those to spec.
