Trans build question

Trying to save some money and build my trans up. I would like to have a BTS or JW trans but shipping to Hawaii plus core would be out of the question. What parts would I need? Do I need a new pump? New gears? Which clutches? I don't know so please help me out.

I would call the guys at racerx. They sell kits to rebuild the trans with much better parts than stock. That's a pretty good run with the stock trans at 468hp. I wonder what it would have laid down with a better trans!

Sorry forgot the link.

Chris,

Why not try to get a rebuild kit from Brian or John.

When I was looking I liked the racer x kit because it actually increased the number of clutches in the trans. I would think that's a good thing but I am by no means a trans expert. Also I would look into getting a new or high flow pump and triple disc converter

Do I need new planetary gears? I here a lot about a billet input shaft so that's on the list but is a billet intermediate and output necessary,

I don't know if BTS or JW sells kits that's why I said "Why not try". It's certainly worth a phone call or email. Both put in all kinds of upgraded hard parts.

The planetary gear assemblies should be fine if no signs of wear. Mine were like new at 128k miles. The billet intermediate and output shafts are pricey and can easily double the cost of a rebuild. If you you can find cryo'd parts, that could be an option. I am still running the stock intermediate and output shafts. I do have the 300M hardened input and dual load center support..
I used the Suncoast Extreme Duty Master Rebuild Kit. It has increased count clutch Alto Red Eagle packs with hardened teeth. Be sure you use the ones with the hardened teeth. I have seen some substantial wear on the non-hardened ones, even with those packs that had more discs. I went with the 4 disc coast clutch drum also.
Shoot me an PM, if you want a list of the parts I used. I also used other parts from various vendors.
