As you can see the stop light switch is fed directly from the fuse. It is common to use a grounding switch on dome lights as you say but I've never heard of a brake light doing that... sounds like something VW or BMW would try to pull off though.
Is there a date for that schematic? It's a little odd that the brake & hazard circuit feeds power to the directional switch. That requires a pretty beefy switch just for circuit selection. ...but then, I don't agree with everything ford did in the 70's and 80's.
When the same bulb works the turn and brake lights thats how they are wired, it allows the turn signal to still blink while you are pressing the brake pedal. Its common for a bad turn signal switch to cause brake lights to not work. I wish I could find a schematic that shows the complete circuit including the inner workings of the turn signal switch, that would explain how it works.
I came home put my test light on it, it did not work then I played under the dash following the hot side brake wire to the fuse box messed with a couple things and found a fuse popped. I replaced it and it worked i must have popped the fuse hooking up the controller or going through the previews owners wiring (Absolutely Horrible), because i just put a new fuse in.
thanks guys.

Good job man...I knew you would be able to figure it out...I have always been touchy when it comes to hooking up brake controllers...I know some people think I am nuts about it, but I always use a non-acid solder on every connection and then use shrink tubing over it rather than use butt connectors and scotch locks.
Yes it is easy to blow that fuse if you don't disconnect the batteries when installing..
And that, my friends, is why I took mine to the rv place to hook up my controller. (Please understand, this is not to rub noses in anything the neighbor's dog did ...) I have a short fuse when it comes to wiring/diagrams/blown fuses and wire smoke to attempt this. Plus, I have too many guns at my disposal to have to repair any collateral damage to the rig to make it worth the effort of a DIY hookup. I bow to you guys for the effort you do, but I can't be put into that class.
A full brake job on a tractor-trailer? In a heartbeat and whistling as I work. Good job on the work, guys.
