What guindian said, but I'd add some Lucas oil additive in there as well. I put half a quart of Lucas along with 85/90 in my gear box and it shifts nice and smooth. In fact I put Lucas in everything, I swear by that stuff.
Fill the trans with oil until it starts to run out the fill plug. Generally, they hold 1.5 to 2.5 quarts (3-5 pints) depending on transmission model.
Exactly. Expect to make a mess; and find a piece of rubber hose that goes over the nipple on the quarts of fluid, you're gonna need it. On my 86 250 there's no way to completely empty, or even really get the nipple in the fill hole so I attach a rubber hose to it and stick that in the trans and keep the quart bottle vertical.
Just curious, are you gonna take my advice and use some Lucas in there??
I've used lucas with no negative results, (thats the thing those types of products, you put it in and your trans lasts a million years, you still dont KNOW if its because of the additive) How about synthetic gear oils?????
