2001 V8 Triton auto trans. problem began last winter. As soon as the weather turned cold the engine would crank until the battery weakened but would not fire. Checked for spark, has spark..checked for fuel flow, getting fuel, hooked up DIY OBDII code retriever and it flashed through and read 'err' without showing a code. The anti theft is not an issue as the light performs as expected, flashes twice then goes out. Let the truck sit for the winter (lack of funds). Spring rolled around, replaced battery and vrooom, started up like nothing was ever wrong. Ran fine all spring and summer (drove it twice to Florida and back). This fall, the temp dropped and same issue all over again. I'm lost. Help.
MIL? As for cluster of lights, they function as normal. Lighter also functions normally. As stated, everything works accordingly save the fact that it will crank until the battery cannot sustain it any longer...it just refuses to fire up.
sounds like a common cold start injector problem. i had this problem on some older model fuel injected engines before. i replaced the injector and bam started up fine ever since.
BlitZ! You are a flocking GENIUS! It makes a whole lot of sense given what the facts are. I'll let you know how it goes since I'll have to wait til the weekend to do the job. You've got to know though, that once I get it done and the bad boy fires up, I'll be doing the 'Young Frankenstien' bit in your honor..."IT'S ALIVE"
Instead of "Two heads are better than one" It should be "FORUM heads are better than one."
