I replaces my a/c clutch a few years ago with no issues.
Well it is time again and The article I pulled up to replace it says not to install any washers. I am pretty sure the washer or washers are needed for the correct gap.
I have the replacement part and it came with 2 washers. does anyone have an exploded view or some sort of diagram that shows where to put these washers?
Can't say as I agree with everything "lectricgenius" does or says in the video, like using a new flat clutch plate on an already-grooved clutch. If it's gone that far to need a new plate, it's my opinion that it's time to add some bucks and pony up for a new complete clutch assembly. About $115.
I still have over 200,000 miles on my original, but I have had to replace them with as little as 125,000 in other SuperDutys.
I would have liked to have seen his results under running conditions, as one of his other videos shows he could use a new accumulator/filter. The screen in his expansion orifice was collecting something.
I'd also never break open a system and re-use ANY o-ring, no matter how good it looked. Even the specialty ones for A/C systems are cheap, and good "insurance".
But everyone is entitled to their opinion.
BTW, nice truck! Bet it's a real runner!
And we don't know if the A/C actually works or not.....
Sorry if this sounds like "sour grapes", but I'm not-so-sure that I would take all his advice, even if it IS a video on YouTube.
I agree with Pop. Would have liked to see the end results also but after hearing that poor vaccum pump running evidently from a massive inline or hub leak I got a headache.
I just posted those links up, for what the OP was ask'n. Didnt watch the video, just saw/mentioned about washers, along with the diesel link, about the washers as well....
X2 what Pop said Tim, not being sarcastic towards you at all. You still get an "A" for effort to help out here...
I agree. Reps to Tim for helping out with the link. The video was still somewhat helpful anyway. Heck, I even learned a new phrase in the process. "Flat as a Flitter"
I actually had to Google it to see what that meant.
Edit: I also got a kick out of the sparks from when that guy shorted something on the battery. You couldn't see what he did but sure could see the sparks. (I was glad he wasn't injured because then it wouldn't be too funny...)

I'm betting he laid the screwdriver down on the battery and it hit both terminals.
SpringerPop, I do not even know where to start with your criticization of me. Of course I know that it is not good to put a new clutch plate if the other clutch plate is scored. Thing is it wasnt scored nearly as much as the one I tore off there 2 begin with. And yes you are 100% correct about the accumulator, thats why i put a new 1 in when i did this. And btw, I put all new orings back in the thing. This was just a vid of how u culd do this at home on the cheap. You know a true D.I.Y instructional video for those of us that dont have the money 2 pay ppl like u 2 do work that we can do at home in own shops n save a ton of money in the process.
gchavez, no that wasnt the battery shorting on anything, that was the wire getting on the frame (ground). Thats nothing like what ive seen in my days as an electrician

There wasnt nething wrong with that vaccum pump. It was merely a pneumatic vaccum pump, so u have to tolerate the sound of air escaping from it in order to use such. And for all of u that want 2 c how good it worked, i have another vid that was uploaded at the same time, but i kept it private. YouTube - Powerstroke AC Repair Part 2 is the video im speaking of. Ill take it off private so every1 here can view it too.
My apologies lectricgenius, I had no idea you had the gauges hooked up..Hope you can look past my sarcasm and join in with us, we'd be glad to have yaa...

It is not a biggie 2 me, but this shuld remind every1 to not believe everything thats on youtube. Additionally, as in my case there may be more 2 the story than what is shown on youtube as well. The thing that really bothers me about this is it wouldnt have been to hard for ne of u to post a comment to my vid on youtube, and i would have ans ur ques right away, n put all this 2 bed, u know?
