need help with bolt size?

My husband is changing his u joints on his front drive line off the transfer case and can't find the right socket to use. He got a 15/16 socket on it but it slips off. Does anyone know what kind of head or socket is needed? It's a 96 F350 4x4

Some "U" joints nuts takes a 1/2" others take 7/16".
Socket size is 12 point 12 mm for Companion Flange Bolts.

15/16" ??????????

^I agree with subford on the 7/16 or 1/2 sizes. I don't remember exactly which one I used when I worked on the driveline. I may have even used a wrench.

15/16" ?????????? X2

Perhaps 5/16" not 15/16". If so he may need a 12 point socket or box end wrench. This socket size is typically in the 1/4" drive category but that's a little tough on that size driver. They can be had in 3/8" drive in the "Mr Goodwrench" brand, perhaps at AZ.
