99 front add a leaf experience?

Recently picked up a 99 F250 4x4 Ex cab 8' v10 pickup. Truck has high mileage, and while seems some general maintenance items have been neglected over the past couple years, whoever owned it prior loved it LOL.

With matching stock 265 75 16's, on level ground, ground to wheel arch peak is about 38" front and 43" rear......... bout a 5" rake. Would like to get a lil closer to level.

Thinking ideally 3" more in the front would be a good place to be. See add a leaf kits advertising 1.5-3" lift.

Not really a truck or 4x4 guy, so kinda new to this stuff. Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

I have the Tuff Country 2 1/2" leveling kit on my truck and it looks and works great. It really helps when I have my plow on,also keeps the plow push plates from draging through the dirt when offroad.

I suspect that you have F350 blocks in the rear.
Mine came with add-a-leafs in the front. The thing rode like a buckboard - almost no suspension compliance in the front. It hurt. Many like that in a truck, I don't.
I threw them away and installed new leaves - Tuff Country EZ rides. This approach addressed old, saggy springs as well.
MUCH better.
My truck came out sitting just slightly nose down with F350 blocks.

Other approaches that won't beat you to death are a shackle lift kit or the Icon mini-spring kit. Both retain stock springs.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with add-a-leafs.

However, I will say WELCOME!

If you like the ride it has now,get the shackle lift. The add-a-leaf kits do stiffen up the ride a little bit,but if have plans for a winch or plow they really keep the front from sagging to the ground.I also suggest you get Rancho RX9000X adjustable shocks, they really help smooth out the ride. The great thing is you can adjust them for different loads.Your 99' F-250 should have the 4" blocks in the rear so you don't have to touch them. The newer F-250 came with 2" blocks, because people thought the back was to high.

Thanks everyone! I looked again, and it appears the back does have blocks. They're about 3 5/8" and appear factory.

This place is local, so I'm going to stop by this week and talk to them. http://www.saintlouisspring.com/

You could always put the shorter factory F250 blocks in the back. That should lower it about 2".
