1999 F250 4X4 7.3 WHAT WOULD MAKE A TRANSMISSION THAT HAS NEVER SLIPPED OR ANYTHING
LOOSE ALL FORWARD GEARS FLUID IS FULL,AND REVERSE WORKS FINE. ANY HERO'S OUT THERE TO HELP OUT A POOR BOY
I'm sure you'll get some input about your trans problem shortly. I just wanted to welcome you and let you know your first post made it.
You might want to turn your CAPS lock off. We can hear you.
Also welcome DWhunter I am not sure whats wrong with your transmission but I do know that an auto can be working great one minute and something lets lose the next. Hopefully Mark will come along and read this and give you some insite.
Within two and half years my 96 f350 has went through 2 transmissions and third one is getting pulled out next week hopefully. My truck is setting on a six inch lift supported on 38's. Its not beautiful, but the 7.3 is a screamer. Turns out that my gear ratios were wrong. Transmissions overworked trying to spin 40's down the highway. Hopefully, not your problem. A few calculations along with some possitive info would have saved me alot of money and freezing Wyoming winds. Good Luck
It will not pull in one or two. The motor sounds like it's in gear pulling down a little But acts like the brake is on or is in gear and park at the same time. I HOPING there is some sensor or something that relays to the shifting. I know my 93 7.3 would not shift correct because of the rpm sensor thanks all for the input
Just a quick question about the tranny and transfer case. i can have my truck running and crawl underneath and i hear spinning. the truck will not move in any gear and i put it in four wheel and it wont move either. with it being in park why is something spinning. Early that morning I was up in the mountains, had to use 4 wheel several times and thought I heard new popping noise. limping it slow into town by easy throttle but when got up to speed it wanted to jump and shift gears itself. I pulled off and pulled speed sensor and it was good. Pulled out slow and POP it was over. any thoughts of advise
But acts like the brake is on or is in gear and park at the same time.
Does it rev like it's in neutral, or is the engine working and not able to rev when it's in a forward gear?
Actually, it really doesn't matter. Either way something mechanical has failed. The trans has to come out and be rebuilt to fix this. There is no sensor or solenoid that can cause this.
The truck quit pulling at my farm last night after my wife drove it to work I drove it home in reverse. This morning started the truck PUT IT in drive, it went in gear mabey slipped taking off a little but drove fine shifted through just like nothing was wrong. could the filter have been blocked and siting all night relieved the pressure enough for it to work this morning?????? funny thing the fluid dont smell burnt.
When the truck is running, I can rev it like its in neutral and rev it in any gear like in neutral. And your right the tranny is coming out. There is a differential speed sensor inserted in the top of my rear gear box. I have changed it three times sense owning my pickup. When it is going out my truck would start shifting down and up when it wanted and didn't want to shift up when taking off. I apologize to everyone if I choosen the wrong term when spoken of this part. Any particular place to get a new one
