I bought a new 2wd XLT Ecoboost this past Monday. Extended cab, Sync,....etc....and it runs really, really great. This after driving a 97 Lariat for 10 years with a 4.6. No comparison! It was a great truck and if I get half the life out of this Ecoboost, I'll be satisfied.
I was skeptical at first but then the other engines, the 3.7 and 5.0 are relatively new as well.
I look at it this way, whether a new design or not, you can get a "lemon" in any make of vehicle.
Also....this is my first "new" vehicle in 24 years!

Howdy everyone, just bought my new 2011 F-150 4x4 Off-Road with the ecoboost this past saturday. So far, I'm loving it, only have about 400 miles on it and I can't wait to try out the 4 wheel drive on it.
I'll post pictures of it as soon as I can.

Drove mine from Fort Pierce, Fl to Pittsburgh, Pa this past week! Averaged between 20 and 24 mpg, mostly in the 22 range. She never missed a beat, even way up in the Blue ridge mountains, what an awesome truck! 1100 miles each way and I couldn't have been more comfortable in a Lincoln! Needless to say I am extremely pleased with this truck thus far!
Well I put in my factory order this week. Right now I have a 2006 F350 6L diesel CC 4x4 and I'm down sizing a bit. I just don't pull heavy enough, often enough, to justify the cost of a diesel anymore. I ordered a Lariat super crew 6.5' box 4x4 max tow 3.73 Ecoboost. It'll be mostly for commuting to work, but I will be pulling a 27' enclosed sled trailer. I should get it by the end of September and I can't wait.
dont have an eco yet but planning to get one from a salvage auction and put it in my '04 f-150 and or my '81 scrambler.
Anyway, this is my first post so I figured I would check in as per the instructions.
I have had several Fords. Currently I own: '02 f350 7.3 less than 40K, '00 f-650 dump w 7.3, air brakes automatic and rated at 26K (dont need CDL
), '04 f-750 w cat, .04 f150, '06 f150 FX4

Hello all. I posted a couple questions and comments in another thread recently, but this is my main introduction. I brought home a 2011 4x2 SuperCrew XLT yesterday, after more than a month of reading, watching, wandering lots, and driving everything under the sun. I ended up with a fully loaded, 3.15 axle XLT, as most of my truck use is daily driver (desk job) and nights and weekends hobby machinist, woodworker, and home DIYer. I may have some heavier towing and hauling work to do some years down the road when I outfit a new shop, but nothing ever particularly heavy-duty.
Out with the old, a 1996 Toyota T100 that I bought new fifteen years ago, have treated well over the years, and has served well in return. Great truck.

And in with the new. I love it already, and plan to treat it just as well for the next 15 years. Here's hoping the EB engines do their part.

Thanks for the nice forum, the information has been very helpful over the past several weeks.
Bill.

Still waiting on a standalone controller (like ford now offers for the 5.4 and 5.0) and crate motor. ... Want to buy a maverick just to put the motor in lol... Hopefully I can find some info on what this engine is made of and some folks that are tuning (putting on better/bigger turbos, changing internals, etc.).
Well it's 11:30 at night. Tomorrow I will be trading in my 04 6.0 power stroke for a new ecoboost. I am a die hard ford guy and always owned fords. But after my 6.0, I have a really bad taste in my mouth. You can call me the poster child of what's wrong with the 6.0. Everything that could go wrong has. But that's not why I am here. I just hope I am making the right choice going with the ecoboost. I will never own a diesel again! So I will be jumping ship to this side tomorrow. So she goes.
Congrats on the new truck!
I had an '05 6.0L PSD that was an outstanding truck but I certainly understand your frustration as there have been many folks who've had problems. Here's hoping the EcoBoost works out better for you. From everything the owners on here are saying, you'll be well satisfied.
