Swamps 140v HF IDM initial impressions

I replaced my failed idm with a Swamps high voltage high frequency idm. I have only driven a few miles so far but the truck cranks with a bit more authority. There is less lag between throttle application and truck movement. It seems to idle a bit smoother. And seems to have a bit more get-up-and-go. I am taking it out to dinner tonight and driving it to work in the morning. I will post more impressions after a few more miles.

Sounds good, Bob. Did swamps have any idea about why you've had so many IDM failures?

How does it compare to the normal 140v idm?

I believe it creates more spark or pulse width to fire those injectors hence Bob going a professionally done Swamps IDM mod, somebody will correct if off base. I cracked my IDM open two years ago and seen how hairy getting that resistor out, I closed it back up and said heck with it, didn't want to booger anything up, I'm good for doing that sometimes.

You can go to swamps website and look at the info about what makes their idm better than others. I am on my phone and would take a while to get to it. I didn't talk to them about my failures. I am convinced it was because they were cheap rebuilds.

Please keep us posted with a few more miles on it. It would be an interesting mod change if you can feel that much change in power and idle.

I am happy for you Robert about getting the swamper IDM. I want one but that is alot of cash. But the piece of mind is priceless. So please let us know how it works out. Also what ended up the problem other than the IDM ? was it wiring? Did you do the 50 cent mod? I lost tract on your last tread.

The Beans IDM only increases the voltage to the injectors. The Swamps IDM increases the voltage and the frequency. There really is a difference.

The UVCH on the drivers side was loose. Did the 25 cent mod. Popped open the passengers side and broke the clip on the harness trying to plug it back in with the quarter installed. So I used zip-ties to secure the passenger side plug.

I am really digging this IDM so far, there is a noticeable difference in throttle responsiveness and overall running condition of the truck.

7.3 Power Stroke IDM

See here for a very detailed description of what Jonathan at Swamps does to the IDM to improve it.

Spunks00 and all. I am thinking on this swamps IDM also. But people like me with the early 99 I just put Terminator T500 HPOP on my truck and I got to say all e99's should do this. I do have a DP Tuner but all tunes including stock feel much better and it pulls thur all the RPM ranges much smoother. I have stock sticks but am going to up date soon. It is a direct replacement but read all instructions before install. Remember all late 99 and up have a 17 HPOP but this one with the mod in my oppinion is great and will make future mods, stage 1 etc., set to go.
