A/C blowing through defrost only-where are vacuum hoses???

My 2005 Freestar (not the Freestyle) a/c is working properly except that it is only blowing through the defrost. I've read other posts about it being a leaking vacuum system on other ford vehicles that cause this problem.
1) I'd like to confirm that this Freestar a/c works on a vacuum system to open the a/c duct doors.
2) If it is, where are the vacuum hoses located? I'd like to check them to see if they are connected or if they have a hole.

Any other advice will be appreciated!
Thanks.

check vac lines under the hood. Does the setting change with heat? climate control? (duel)?

We have the SEL with 4.2L, which has the dual zone manual that works fine. The a/c is cold out of the defrost and the heat is hot out of the defrost. It blows (hot and cold) out the defrost no matter where the control **** is pointing. The rear air is also working properly.

Where are the vac lines? This is the problem I'm having. What are they connected to in the engine compartment? I can't find any schematics online and the Haynes manual is not helping.
Thanks.

Trace leads from the fire-wall, (they may-be encased in wire loom) Listen for a slight hiss under the hood while idling,

turn the **** to other positions. If you hear hissing sound it is vac leak.If it does nothing except for stay on defrost it is junk. Go to junkyard for another.
All my settings work except for the off position , it just hisses and don't want to take dash apart till it gets warmer out.

Funny you should ask tonight... This past weekend I took some of the dash off and looked under there and also under the hood. I and a friend can't find any vacuum hoses, so I'm believing the ducts are controlled electronically. My plan was to call the local Ford Service Dept. and discuss this issue with them, but I've been too busy and haven't done it yet. Now TODAY, it started to work again!! The switch is now working fine and will move the air to the dash vents, foot vents, or the defrost. I'm wondering if there was a loose connection that reconnected when I put the dash parts back together. Or, if the switch is on its way out and intermittently works.

So, it works for now, but if it goes out again, I'll call Ford and see if they can help. I'll keep you posted.

I'd get a control switch from junk yard just in case.
