Just like our fleet of 06' F-150's, my emblem on my 2011 F250 is starting to peel and bubble up on the front grill. Every 06' had their rear and front emblems replaced close to 3 times until we just gave up and lived with it. I thought Ford fixed this problem? Going to the dealer tomorrow to get a warranty repair. Anybody elses doing this?
Well that sux... I specifically asked Chris Brewer if they improved the Large Ford emblem from cracking like the 05 -10 cheep emblems and got a straight answer that yes the '11 emblems have been fixed.
9 months old, 7K miles, and front bumpers are rusting as well. It seems to wipe off with a good scrub though. Any thoughts on what causes this? I've got other vehicles that are 3 years old and no sign of rust on them, what's FORD doing wrong...
The bumper rusting issue is one that I am monitoring. When I waxed the truck recently (on an unusually warm day in the Northeast) I found that the bumpers are not smooth. My microfiber towels was constantly snagging chrome artifacts. I haven't looked at them with a magnifying glass but I suspect these are either excess chrome or more likely, small pin hole rust spots.
My So Cal dealer ordered a replacement grille emblem under warranty today when I had the truck in for the NOX/PCM flash. The truck is 18 months old with 20k on it. They claimed it was not covered under warranty, but eventually I got them to do it.
Does anyone know if the grille has to be removed in order to replace the emblem? The service writer gal couldn't tell me for sure. If so, I'll replace the stock yellowish halogen lamps with silverstar or the like while they have it off.
BTW, the NOX/PCM flash has worked wonders on the transmissions shift issues, also it looks like the mileage is better too.
12 months old and there was rust AND the peeling emblem. Had the football replaced under warranty and they cleaned off the rust on the bumper, tow hook, and exhaust tips. Rust reappears every 6 months, just clean it off and hope for the best.
The grille is chrome plated plastic, and I'm convinced the bubbling is caused by the plastic gassing off in the heat/sun. My stepdad never parks his trucks (02 & 10 Superduties) inside and they are both bubbling/peeling. I always park mine ( 06 & now an 11) in the shade and have never had one do it.

Tom, The grille takes about 1 minute to take off. Piece of cake.
