I want to put back the original factory style side mirrors and am wondering what the Ford part number for 1973 is. I want the small, single arm rectangular mirrors, not the west coast style. I can see the outline of where they were mounted on my doors originally. thanks!
I dont know about the ford part number, but I bought the reproduction ford mirrors from LMC. The part number for them is 49-6512 and they are $40 bucks each. Im very pleased with them. If you want the original ford part number, there's a member on here that goes by numberdummy he can get what ever number you need.
I'm wanting the west coast mirrors. Any one know where to get them? Also anyone got pics?
You could try the 'yards but they're tough to find... either they're bent, broken, or missing parts. Ask me how I know.
I've got a really nice set of West Coasts with the Ford script... stainless steel too. Do an FTE search for "West Coast" and look for my thread with a pic. PM me if you're interested.
To the OP, Ford had like 12 different mirror models. Numberdummy posted a pic on a thread about a year from the parts catalog. Again, do an FTE search within the 73-79 dentsides.
Damn that's a nice truck man. I hope mine looks as nice when I'm done. Are those factory mirrors?
thanks but i hope your turns out better, this pic was taken before the resto. most of that body isnt being used
as for the mirrors, they do say ford but im not sure if they came with it or not, i was hoping someone else could tell me if they are a factory mirror or not.
while we are talking about mirrors, would these be the west coast mirrors? they seem bigger then what i saw someone call a west coast mirror
those are the same frames i have but someone has replaced the origonal double mount mirrors with the single point mount like i have now.....the ones i have now suuuuck couse they flo around in the wind. the single mount just isnt ridgid enough. id like to have those back

This is the illustration that was posted for Bill (Numberdummy). It shows the different types of factory mirrors, there can be different mirrors within a given type.
Also, ALL mirrors were dealer installed. They were shipped loose in the truck and installed once the truck was sold, that way if the buyer wanted different mirrors they could be installed without having to fill and repaint the original holes.

To the OP, let me know what type mirror you're looking for and I'll post the Ford part number.

These look like Type 3 mirrors. Ford calls them west coast jr. mirrors. On those the head measures 5" X 9". The original part number for the kit is: Right hand D3TZ-17696-B, Left hand D3TZ-17696-A. The mirror head is C7TZ-17723-A right or left.

I undestand from another one of your posts that you're looking for the type 5 mirrors, correct?
P/N D3TZ-17696-L RH or LH manual control, chrome
P/N D3TZ-17696-K RH or LH remote control, chrome

yes! absolutely. At the very least, I need to find out what the original part number for those is. Curious if the same mirror fits both sides or if they came in rights and lefts. Thanks!
The same mirror fits either side, right or left. Its just a matter of turning the head to the right position.
The original Ford part numbers are listed in my last post (#11)
Searched the dealer and obsolete parts suppliers:
D3TZ-17696-L Manual control mirror
Dennis Carpenter, Concord, NC has 5 (704) 786-8139
Collectors Auto Supply, Oroville, WA has 22 (800) 414-4462
I couldn't locate any of the remote control versions

thanks! I think this is the last thing I needed to find. I think the hardest thing to find is the original gas caps. I guess when the oil embargo hit in the seventies, everybody threw them away and got lockiing ones from the part store, ha ha. I finally found an original for my styleside.
I really appreciate the help you guys give on this forum!
