real world mpg in ecoboost 4x4
#3
The EBs are just now trickling in, so the wait for "real world" input shouldn't be too far down the road. Mine is due in next week, and I'll certainly be happy to post my MPGs.
I would anticipate that these engines will get better MPG once the engine is broken in...likely the MPG will peak sometime after the first oil change...at least that's what I anticipate.

Read my post about my drive. The Ford rep averaged 17-19 from Detroit to Virginia in a 4x4 King Ranch 3.5L.

12s? 16 on highway? Man that's not looking very good. The one I test drove was showing 22 mpg on the highway cruising 75 or so. I didn't do much city driving but now I'm wondering if I should drive one more stop and go before I order one this week...
The truck I drove was 2011 Supercrew 4x2 XLT 5.5' bed 3.15 gears Ecoboost.

12 and 16 is pretty much what I have been seeing too. I took an EB for a ride today on a 90 mile round trip. This truck with just under 4000 miles on it.
I wanted to really give it a test at 75 MPH on the Freeway.
With the truck cruising at 75 mph it averaged 14.7 mpg. The early part was slightly uphill but mostly flat. I still don't see how these are going to get 21MPG.

What setup were you driving? The one I drove was pretty easy to get 20 mpg + on the computer. I even hit punched it a couple times and it got back to over 20. I got over 20 after exiting and driving around a little bit too so seems weird. I wonder if there's a wide variance in mpg on these trucks? Will make me a bit upset if I order one and get one that gets bad mileage. The truck I drove had 1 mile on it before I put 30-40 on it that day btw...

I'm not sure what is going on either but it's been the same in all the EB's we've driven so far.
This was a Lariat 4X4 EB Screw 3:73-1 with the 6.5' bed. The owner is thinking of selling it already so we wanted to test it at freeway speeds to really see what the story was.
This was a pretty good test to see how it would do on the freeway at true freeway speeds. The engine is awesome and the truck is really nice but the MPG's seem way off.
Has anyone towed with this setup yet? I'm really curious what MPG they are getting.

Gas mileage is a hot button issue right and as it should be. But we have to be realistic with our choices.
