Dent ramp trucks
Dent ramp trucks
Hey, guys--anyone here own a Dent ramp truck? I'd love to get my hands on a '73-'75 F350 ramp, but I just don't ever see them on ePay or craigslist, etc.
I've got this bur up my a$$ to get rid of my flatbed tandem-axle trailer and replace it with a ramp, but where to find one?

Well, I mean like the race car haulers that probably started out as a cab-and-chassis and were taken to a truck body place to have a fixed ramp bed installed. Not a flatbed, but a permanent diagonal ramp that a car could be pulled up on. Winch at the back of the cab, dually rearend, 1-ton, etc.
A friend of mine up in Pa had a bumpside ramp truck. It was pretty cool. He was on Rt.309 in Hilltown, north of Philly. That was about 15 years ago, though. I have no idea if the truck is even alive still. From time to time they pop up on craigslist. I just found a dent rollback I was toying with trying to get. Same reason. I'm tired of hauling a trailer.
Yeah, that's what I've been thinking, too, earthquake. For what I have to deal with when I pull my trailer, a self-contained hauler would be so much easier. I spend about 90% of my pulling time hauling cars and having a powerful winch and a ramp and a shorter rolling rig would make life alot easier. Plus, those old ramp trucks are COOLER! Ever since I saw Don "The Snake" Prudhomme's restored dragster hauler at SEMA two years ago, I've gotten the bug for an old hauler and a Dent would make me happy...

Stoner, find a newer model roll back or ramp truck and take the bed off put it on the dent of your choice, re sell the newer truck without the bed.............You probably could get a bed for around $1000 that way...........Just a thought
I myself have a 77 Dentside wrecker/tow truck with the sling set up. Very clean and very cool, much nicer than my old one (Yes I've had 2 in the past 2 years and yes I use them to tow scrap cars).
I have a friend who has a 79(? I know it's a dent though) rollback with the old school tail lift attached to the bed itself to haul a second car. I know he's trying to sell it, 390 with a slight rod knock but it has a 2 spd rear and he's been driving the thing!

I have been hauling my drag cars to the dragstrip for 23 years now, with a 74 F350 dually ramp truck. I bought my truck in early 1988 as a cab & chassis, it had previously had a dump box, and had been used as a landscaping truck. The truck has a 161" wheelbase, and 10,000 lb GVW. My deck is 16 feet long, with good sized storage compartments on either side, plus a handy storage "pit" in the center, under the car. This pit is large enough for 2 spare dually wheels&tires, a large floor jack, 4 jack stands, and a pair of drive on car ramps, and still not be higher than the deck surface. The side boxes are big enough to hold plenty of tools, spare parts for both the race car and the F350, several jugs of race gas and water, plus other stuff. In addition to the stock in cab tank gas tank, I added an extra rear mounted tank for added range, and last year added a hitch mount for transporting my 80cc Yamaha pit scooter. About 20 years ago, I rebuilt a 390 to replace the very tired factory 360, and still have the stock "granny low" NP435 4 speed and Dana 70 with 4.10 Powerlock. I really like a ramp truck, my driveway is not practical for a PU and car trailer, lengthwise, and I find it easier to drive than a PU & trailer combo. Although several friends questioned my sanity in taking such a long trip with a 35+ year old truck, I had no problems hauling my Mustang Stock Eliminator from my home in BC Canada, down to Sonoma Calififornia to race at the Fram/ Autolite Nationals at Infinion/Sear Point Raceway. Other than suffering thru 107 degree temps with no A/C, the truck performed very well on the 2500 mile round trip.
i dont think it is anymore, i saw it awhile ago...if i come across it again i will let you know tho!
