as noted the 53 and 54 have shorter in length rear springs , and one end or the other the shock mounts are different , just can't recall which . shouldn't make a difference though as long as your using the stuff that's there on the frame or buy all the needed parts from one of the many peeps selling parts for one year or another i.e. no mix 'n' match . otherwise same dain frame . you can put the 55 - 56 rear springs on as in the case of my "new" 53 frame the holes are there to put them on if i so desired , or just mark and drill . longer length springs ride better you know ..................

Stock, bare rames I've seen typically go from free to $350, depending on condition and location, and how bad the seller wants to part with it.
Just as a word of caution, since the serial number stamped on the frame is the legal VIN of the vehicle, when doing a frame swap, have your paperwork in order to prevent title/inspection/impound problems in the future.

Is there something wrong with your 56 frame that you've decided not to use it for your 56, why are you going to use the 55 or is that the one that is painted already?
