Have a neighbor with a 1995 F150 4X4. The other day he was driving and one of his front axle shafts went outward and shot through his passenger side hub. When he finally limped home he jacked the truck up and his driver side wheel was wobbly and all the lug nuts were tight. That's all I got to see and he took it in to the shop. That was yesterday and he texted me today saying that the shop says something is wrong with the diff. That sounds right to me (sounds like someone forgot to put some C clips back on).
My question for you guys is, what front axles came in 1995 F150s. I think the cheapest way for him to go is find a used front axle and swap it in.
what you are describing does not sound like anything that would be caused by the differential. and there is no way that the outer axle shaft would move outward.
It sounds more like a wheel bearing failure that caused the hub to move inward.
