Looking for some opinions from the experts because Ford has been no help to date!
I have a 2008 F-350 6.4L Job 2 with 46,000mi. The vehicle has been in for service three times for large amount of smoke during regeneration which started at around 35,000mi. The smoke is white with bluish tint that obscures multiple lanes behind the truck...not normal. After a few minutes the smoking stops but if you let off the throttle and then re-accelerate the smoke will return. Oil analysis shows no anti-freeze. The de-gas bottle has been dropping slightly over time. The dealer has pressure checked the EGR coolers and they are within limits. The dealer replaced the CAC which didn't fix the problem. The dealer marked the de-gas bottle to verify coolant loss because they don't believe me. I did a thorough inspection of the external parts of DPF and could not see anything out of the ordinary.
Engine runs great. Fuel mileage is 18-20 empty on the highway and 15 around town. REGENs occur about every 300 miles.
Truck is going back into the shop on Monday to verify coolant dropping. My opinion is the EGR valve is leaking or the DPF has issues. Does anyone else have any other ideas or thoughts? Thanks in advance!
My truck started smoking mainly during regens at about 15K miles, then it became a common occurance. Everytime I accelerator a puff of smoke came out. Three seperate trips to dealer they finally replaced 3 injectors and the DPF.
My 2008 F350 (40k) started doing that same thing about 500 miles ago and after having it into the Ford dealer a few weeks ago they could not find anything wrong other than suggesting maybe some bad fuel. Yesterday the smoke came back and was very bad. Looks like I am not the only one with this problem.
Guess I will be making another trip to the dealer!
I remember the first 2 times I brought my truck in, the advisor ( not my regular one) told me "don't worry about it, diesels are supposed to blow smoke". To which I replied "what is the DPF for?". I was told something similar the next time but they supposedly ran tests and everything was fine. Within 2 months it started blowing smoke all the time and they found the problem. It's been fine since.

I should have quoted my original post in my second post. Ford ended up replacing 3 injectors, but because it had been happening for a while it also had clogged up the DPF, so they had to replace it.
mine smoked the other day for the first time.. when i bought the truck, i didn't even get it off the lot.. and they had to replace the EGR.. i'm in an 08 Job 1, all stock.. 52K and i took video of it.. at first i didn't notice it but it only happen when i would accelerate.. here is the link to the youtube video.. it smokes for 4 seconds (0:04-0:08) but 30 secs before that.. it was much worse.. truck runs great tho.. and it wasn't feeling any different when it was smoking..
