Opinion needed Guy at work has 07 cummins I just bought 97 7.3l and would like to do the oil change this week. He gets mobile 15w 40 from a bulk supplier at discount. The only info I can find for 15w 40 heavy duty mobile delvac it is recomended for Cummins Cat Volvo and some others but not Ford that I can find. He asure's me it's fine but he has always owned a Cummin's and this is my first week with the truck and don't want to make a mistake but would like to save some money if possible. Thanks
I don't see why it would hurt. It's a diesel rated oil. I wouldnt be afraid of it. And a cat 3208 is basically the same as our engine with the same injection system.
I am an outside parts manager for a vocation specific company. With this job, I sell LOTS of oil. We sell Exxon (Delvac) products. I know for a FACT that Delvac is approved for the T444E (Powerstroke). No worries at all.
I've used Delvac in my 7.3 several times with no worries. As a matter of fact that's what I've got in it right now. Of course I've only got 357,000 miles on the motor so I don't really know about loooooooong term effects.
How much of a discount are we talking about? I didn't think there was that much of a margin on motor oil.
Not sure how much F350-6 but I think It's coming out of a 55 gal. drum like we buy a the machine shop. That might be the way to go for fuel to ,the way things are going. Buy in bulk as a group with local diesel owners my wife drives a TDI. Small HVAC Companies have their own tanks in my area. Just a thought but probably a gamble.
