So let me get this straight. You successfully bolted up a Powerstroke 7.3 E4OD to a 7.3L IDI block? I thought this wasn't possible. What year was the transmission? What did you end up doing for a flexplate?
Thanks
The transmission came out of a 2003 superduty that caught on fire. $250. Can't beat that. I used a c6 flex plate but plan to change it out soon when I can locate a spacer for the later one. If only ford had made the powerstroke and idi converters and flex plates the same. But it all can't be that easy.
If you have any more questions ask away. You can contact me at my profile if you like.
I read all that you have said it seems to be all 1992. I have a 91 F250 XLT Lariat 7.3 IDI 4x4. I'm also looking to make the swap to a 4R100 with a PTO. I cannot seem to find any information on this type of swap. So anyone who can tell me or web links o would greatly appreciated I will be taking off the body on my truck and turning it to a Ford F100 4x4 short bed.
Since the 7.3 powerstroke was bolted to a 4R100 then of course it would bolt to an e4od. The 4R100 is a little updated version of the E4od. I plan on bolting a 6.9 to my 00' F250 5.4 4R100 and use an older e40d 4 bolt torque converter and using the aftermarket baumen trans computer.
Your 91 4x4 picks up the speedo off of the t-case, so with a swap of the solenoid body to the one from the e4od(assuming you have one existing) the computer will be none the wiser.
As for bolting a 6.9 to a 5.4 trans, how exactly are you going about adapting the bolt pattern?

As far as bolting them together should be no problem. Same bolt pattern as the E40d and those were put behind the 7.3 idi. I will just use the 4 bolt E4od torque converter.
Not quite, the 6.0 and later diesels use the Mod motor pattern apparently, while 7.3 PSD and older have their own bellhousing pattern that is loosley based on the 385 series 429/460 one.

Who were you referring too. I might have missed it. I can tell that a 4R100 will absolutely bolt to a 6.9/7.3 idi.
