so i have a 1965 ford ranger (buckets console carpet and padded dash) how many of these were made. someone is selling a 1966 ranger on ebay claiming only 1000 were made and i was wondering what the truth is

My thought is that the Ebay claim would be false. I don't think Ford broke down production numbers of trim levels. Also, I don't think Kevin Marti has info this old either so there may be no way to know. I'd like to know where the Ebay seller got their number.

The ebay claim is UNDER 1000 not 1000 built. That would be 20 avg per state.
If I had to guess the number would be a few hundred tops...
Another question would be how many of those Rangers were F250's?
well its the same console my 65 ranger has id still like to know how many of these were made
As I mentioned above, there probably isn't any way to know. Ford has production numbers for how many F100 4X2 styleside SWB's, etc. however they don't break down what engines, trim, etc. The records with that info were probably destroyed years ago.
Kevin Marti at marti auto works has this info for later cars but I don't think he goes back that far and I'm not sure if he has records for trucks. That would probably be your only chance.
If ford made 350 thousand trucks and 10 percent were rangers that would make 35 thousand of them.
There is no record of the rangers production. Wanting a number is wishing in one hand and $%^tting in the other.
All i can say is there are about 50 percent more rangers today than were ever produced as it is exceptionally easy to duplicate one if one knows the correct trim codes and parts n pieces.
well thats what i figure and thats why i wondered how that guy on ebay "knows" that there are less then a 1000 and my truck did come with this package originally since we know the owners who got it new. i agree that a lot of people probibly have made their trucks "rangers". but where the hell do you get a new console if you were trying to clone one, the back section of the vinal arm rest on mine is ripped up and i would like to replace it but none of the catalogs have them. also find it interesting that they use the screw down hump from a granny low 4spd to get the console at the right highth with a nice little factory block off plate where the shifter would be,
even IF you could find one for 69.99 it still won't fit the floor of your truck! Dearborn has them for about 200.00 but they don't come with everything you need to make it complete.
for 69.99 i get the pad , which is all i need cause my original is ripped up , like i said before my truck rolled of the line a ranger and is not a clone so i do in fact have a factory console in my truck , just was wondering about the pad
