I was driving down the road and spotted this very clean silver 1977 F250 4X4 parked in a parking lot of our local hardware store. I just had to stop and snap a few photos because it's such a rare site to see 2 fully restored dentsides parked side by side.
Yep, the Arco at Delaware and HWY 92 in San Mateo has the cheap gas prices in the peninsula. I always welcome a fellow Dentside owner, I was starting to think I was the only one around the Bay Area in this forum. Glad to see I have company.
Yeah, there are a few of us, NBC-Steve! A good friend of mine's got a gennie Burnt Orange '73 F250, I've got my '74 F350 SCS, a guy in South City has a neat green/white '73 F250 CS (but I think he's selling it) and there are a few more around.
We've got a stash of parts between us and like kickin' the tires. Lemme know the next time you're going to the hardware store!
I'm so glad to hear there are more Bay Area Dentside owners. I'm always on the lookout for nicely restored 73-79 Fords but there are very few around. The silver one that is in the photo I actually spotted a few months ago driving on Edgewood Road and a few weeks after that I spotted a nicely restored 79 driving on 92 West of Skyline.
I have a few parts, not many but handy little things. I just rebuilt the top end of my engine and I replaced the intake and carburetor. I'm on the lookout for a tailgate and the Ranger Lariat black trim piece just above the "FORD".
But first I need to replace my front driveshaft and then re upholster my seat. I'm good for meeting up sometime with you guys to chat Truck stuff. That would be kind of cool if you think about it, how many good looking trucks can assemble in one place?
Ditto.. I'd be interested in a Bay Area Dentside gathering... sounds like fun. My rig is roadworthy and have only been working on minor systems until winter (and rain) is done and gone. The latest project is a custom roof rack/light bar to skill build using my new tubing bender... still trying to dial in the measurements.
Parts? I've got a spare 289, two C-4s, an Autolite 4100, Mustang glass, fog lights (three sets, and lots of VW A1 series (GTI/Rabbit) parts from my autocrossing days. My next big project is to custom build a 71 2WD Bumpside Crew cuz I haven't been able to find a real one locally and figured I might as well build my own.
Btw, the Fairfield, Newark, and Richmond Pick N Pulls are my favorite hunting grounds. I usually drive my 01 Supercrew though.
Last week I was thinking how cool it would be to get a bunch of clean 73-79s together.
Then I saw Steve's red n white 1-ton in Menlo Park. His truck is a head turner!
I had to stop and get a better look.
We discussed getting the local FTE 'dents' together....I see a bay area gathering in our future......
Nice to meet you Steve!
And when I get that tailgate in my hand, I'll give you a shout.
Dave
I'm down for a get-together! I'm guessing the Peninsula would be better for everyone (as opposed to the city, where I live). Say, Hillsdale Mall parking lot or some place in San Mateo or Redwood City?
I think a gathering is an excellent idea. Perhaps at a lunch location someplace on the peninsula if that works for HIO Silver. Weekends are mostly good for me now that I have finished my home construction project.
It was pretty cool to meet you Dave I'm glad you stopped to say Hi! I'm really looking forward to a gathering of fellow dentside owners.
