A/C help

This is a two question post, both refer to my a/c unit.I have a 2002 7.3 PSD and my clutch turns if the a/c unit is on or off??? Also, the two tubes on the top of my a/c unit under the hood are covered with ice after any use with the truck.

Can anyone help.

The clutch may be seized.
If the compressor is turning constantly the system is freezing.

Unplug the compressor connector and see if it stops turning.

Keep in mind that the A/C compressor is supposed to operate in most HVAC modes. Check your owner's manual for details.

If the clutch hub isn't seized to the pulley, then the most likely failure is either a cycling switch that is stuck closed or, perhaps, a mischarge.

Yes but it should still cycle.

A/C help

Thanks for the info but can you please explain in laymen terms as I know nothing about these a/c units and Ford will charge me much too much to fix it.

...not if the switch is stuck closed.... Supposed to, but it won't.

If it's hot enough outside, it will run continuously. Unless the OP is in the southern hemisphere, that shouldn't be a problem this time of year.
