Have a 82 f150 that makes a squealing noise once it starts rolling. Only happens when the ambient temp is cool. I think it's the torque convertor but not sure. What else could it be? Shifts fine and again on warm days it's gone.
I thought about that and have the u joints waiting on intstallation. Figured they need changing as they are prob original anyway. Never hear this type of noise before. Pretty sure its not internal transmission but I guess it could be the pump also.
Just got this truck a few weeks ago so I have no idea on its service history. Just changed the front ball joints, radius rod bushings, the entire brake system and will do the u joints soon. I was told the transmisson had a fluid leak from up front but I don't see one right off.
Update: Took truck to a very good shop locally and the tech diagnosed to squaling as a bad rear transmission seal. Seems there is a bushing back there that looses its lubrication when the seal leaks. Anyway, they could have screwed me royal but they are a good honest shop. If anyone in Dallas, TX area needs transmission work John Wrights A1 Transmissions on Hwy35 in farmers Branch is the place to go.
