quick question on alternator

Short answer... yes. Just make sure to use really heavy gauge wire. What I question, though, is what kind of alternator you have found that is only $110 for 200 amps. Sounds like a potentially cheap foreign knock-off to me (unless it's something good someone had and is just trying to empty the garage).

that is the link, i am just trying to get rid of the flashing battery light on the dash. i was thinking the sensor in the alt. i cant just use the same wires with this alt just drop the alt in and go?

I have one from Eagle Auto Electric and it's been working great. It will very likely be the large case 6G which means you'll need to do either:
1. Clearance the bracket that the alternator sits on, or
2. use washers (or similar) to move the alternator up
the 6G is bigger and without doing either of the above, it won't fit properly, and when you snug it down, it will cause the shaft to lock in place and not turn.
you'll want one that is built on the 6G case and not the 3G - the smaller case doesn't allow for 'properly sized' components which will cause excessive heat and early failure

One additional option is to do a little grinding in hte valley on the alternator frame. I initially shimmed mine with washers, but you loose a good 1/4" of thread bite in the bracket, and since it's aluminum, that makes it easier to strip the threads (don't ask me how I know).
Once I stripped a thread on one of the back bolts, I used my little die-grinder and trimmed the lower part of the bracket so that the 6G casing would fit right into palce without any shims at all.
EdIT... I just noticed on the ebay ad that the alternator is also classified as not only "new", but also as a "remanufactured" unit.

i posted up the link, let me know what you guys think. i would rather not rewire stuff or have to cut anything. but i couldnt believe it when i saw the price and 200amp.....

If you google that part number it shows it's a re manufactured bosh unit. I couldn't find any specs on it though. Personally, I would stay away from re man. unit especially something you buy on the internet. It's a new reman. unit......lol........

Sounds to me like while it may be a good deal up front, you will "get what you pay for" in terms of quality.
Phillip, how are the basics? Connections good ,clean and tight? Terminals free from corrosion? Are the OEM batteries still present?

walt! nice bumper first off. and yea, a buddy of mine is a firefighter here and hes like OCD about battery connections. it rubbed off on me. there clean, batterys are from 08' i was semi comfortable with the ebay link just because its Bosch.
