Weird thing! I pulled my chip off today trying to figure out some shifting problems I'm having with my new racerx valve body. Now the read out on the scan gauge for oil temp is either 1.4 or blank. I cycled through the options and the coolant was 199* when the engine was cold. This corrected itself with a power off and start up of the scan gauge but the oil temp option never came back?? OK, my PCM felt naked with no chip
The PCM is not updated with the newer programming.
When the chip is in, it has the updates.
I had this same issue last summer.
This would be true for a 1994 model, but I don't see it happening on a 1996 where it came factory with all that it needs to run the OBDII stuff.
Glenn, just double check that your set up on 94+ where you select oil temperature. Thats the only time i've had a problem with not displaying oil temp and I have unplugged my chip a couple times.
So I guess what you guys are saying is that with the chip in, set it to 96+.
If the chip is out, set it to 94+.
I'm set on 96+ on program two and have been for quite awhile. I was just curious about this because of pulling the chip and losing the oil temp. No big deal, Tony said he was sending the chip out today.
Travis, did I ever tell you that I asked Tony for a 2/3 increase on the 'no smoke' chip which would be equal to a 1/3 down on the 'smoke chip'? I'm thinking that will be about right. I also asked him about the TC lock and he said that there wasn't any thing he could do about TC lock except to raise the speed up a little when it locks. I put in a racerx value body and the TC lock scared my dog, had my wife saying WTF and I had to get a denist appointment to get my filling in my teeth replaced, LOL. It slamed the truck and camper so hard I couldn't believe it!! But this another post, maybe.
