I replaced a leaking radiator a short time ago. Well I left the engine side shroud off because it was cracked/broken at one of the mounts. I used a couple of nylon tie straps to hold the fan clutch wires. Today the wires got in the fan and shredding the plug on the fan side. I never paid attention to the connections but I'm guessing they are hard wired to the fan clutch. Is it practical to wire it back together extending the wires and route it around the fan. I would rather not buy a new fan clutch with my unemployment funds if I can help it. Any suggestions appreciated. The hurrier I go the behinder I get.
Hi Sheryle, I'm certainly not considered a gearhead and there tons of people on here that know far more than me but here's my two cents (probably all it's worth ). If your on a really tight budget and you can actually extend the wires and wire it back together it's certainly a solution even if it's temporary until your situation changes. I'd make sure to use heat shrink to help insulate your connections.
Option2: Watch your local craigslist listings for someone who is parting out a truck or excursion, I have been able to get some really good deals this way.
