Fuel issues

So, I'm putting on a new fuel pump on my 351M. The pump I got was a Airtex 60007. I also got a new pump-to-carb stainless fuel line from Bronco Graveyard. I also put a new fuel filter on it (just before the carb). On my first attempt to get the truck started the fuel filter would fill up but I didn't have the flared line seated right so it leaked at the pump. I got that fixed but now it want hold fuel in the filter like it did before. The truck starts and runs but I have to stay on the pedal. As soon as I let off to let it idle it quits like it's not getting enough fuel. Is the problem as simple as getting a busted pump straight out the box? It filled the line when it leaked but not now that it doesn't leak....

You wouldn't be the first to get a bad fuel pump out of the box.

Get someone to check the pumps pressure. Could be an airlock in the fuel system also.
