I was just outside and noticed a little puddle under the front of the truck. I crowled under her to find orange coolant on the seam of the radiater right above the drain. I thought maybe the drain was open a little but no, it was tight. I have 40000 miles on the truck. Would this still be under warranty?
Do you think it may be from one of the crimps on the tanks? You might be able to replace the plastic tanks with brass ones - I haven't really looked at my tanks to know if it can be done or not - But every time I have radiator trouble in heavy equipment or in one of the big trucks we just replace the crappy plastic tanks with brass, and it's better than a factory replacement and you never have to worry about it again. - To address the warranty question - you might be able to raise enought crap with the dealer to warranty it, but they probably will try to deny coverage. Good luck and please post the results of your findings.
The shop I've been working for use's Super Dutys for service trucks. EVERY one has had it's radiators replaced under warranty for coolant leaks. These are 08's 2010.
I did have a pluged air filter awhile back after driving a couple of hundred miles in blowing snow but did not set a check engine light. I have a check engine light from the Nox sensor issues and am still waiting for ford to fix that problem. I sure hope I didn't spend 60K on a truck and now have to pay for a radiater less than nine months later.
Was the code for your Nox censor 164A if so that is what mine is coming up as we probably have the same issue are you experincing a loss of power also?
Yes, I do have a lack of power. I don't remember the codes but your probably having the same issues that are described in the thread "Dealers tech have no answers".
As far as the leak ,it does look like it is coming from the crimps that hold the end caps on.

Yea That is generally where they leak the most - if you do have to pay for it, or even if the dealer will fix it under warranty the brass tanks are the way to go - and the tank swap is much cheaper than the replacement radiator that might have the same problem.
Well, I'm looking forward to hearing the end result of this issue. Thanks for the post Reinert.
Everything I have seen/read/heard on this new engine has me convinced that Ford designed a coolant system that would not become such a problem like the 6.4 system was. I'm surprised that your radiator has failed and I hope that this does not become the issue that we had in '08.
