front drum parts

What do you guys do with your old parts. The side of my house is becoming cluttered. I converted to disk front so I have a whole front suspension with drum brakes to get rid of. They are in good condition so I would hate to just throw it away, plus I dont think the garbage man will take them. I guess I could gather everything up and take it for scrap any suggestions

I had the same problem. I ended up taking the stuff to the scrap yard last week. Prices are up to $2.15 for a hundred pounds compared to $1.30 last year. I think it might have something to do with the coming war, and the demand for metal to make things. I couldn't really see anyone wanting the stuff, since everybody who has a truck like ours doesn't really want the old I-beams. I have a real clean yard now, exept for two old engines that are worth more in parts than scrap, "I think".

I've got a couple of old engines (360, 460) and trannies (C6s) in the yard as well. I keep wondering if I should get rid of them, but I know that I would kick myself if I did. It's hard to beat having some stuff around that at least you know the condition of, and who knows, you may find a project truck that needs a 460 down the road...

Your right about that. I can't tell you how many times I've been saved by having spare parts around.

(Example) Once the harmonic balancer broke on my '84 F-150, I pulled one off an old mustang engine I had, and was running in a couple of hours. Later I checked with the parts store and found that I had saved about $70+dollars.

I'm not a fanatic though, I only keep the parts that I know are universal or really rare.

Behind my house in the woods is a large oak stump! I call it the Ford stump. All my old stuff goes there. You'd be surprised how often I go out there and get things!
