I used to commute 50 miles each way to work and over time, in various vehicles started to notice back discomfort, (age? naw......) While it does not address the concern of a seat on a specific vehicle - the biggest thing I did was to get my wallet out of my back pocket while driving. Take a look at that shim you put in your pants (1/2, 3/4, 1") and think about the cant it's giving your hips and spin.
thanks guys. Glad to have the computer back finally,t he phone just wasn't the same.
and to the OP, hope i didn't' inadvertently hijack your post, hope you find a solution.
At work we have 2008 & 2009 Ford F150's ( fleet) all with standard bucket seats , not power. They are the least comfortable seats I have ever sat in in recent years. I and at least half doz. others complain of how sore our backs are from ridding in these trucks for more than 15 min. at a time. I have been going 1 1/2 hour drive one way to a job and my back aches after ( worse than a day of shingling a roof !!!) I am 6 ft. and 170 lbs. so I am defenatly not to big for these seats. My Dad's 1995 F150 had great seats and my 1995 GMC is a real pleasure to drive for 3 + hours one way. I drove a 2010 Dodge Ram 1/2 for the same 1 1/2 Hr trip and was a dream to drive and ride in also. I would never buy a Ford or recommend one to anyone who drives a lot of miles. Has enyone else had this problem and is there a solution .
I dont know about the dodge. I just got rid of my 07 for a left over 2010 f150, and let me tell you, the dodge seats were the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in. I drove it from omaha to pittsburgh and the seat foam on the drivers side actually split and I was SITTING ON THE METAL SEAT FRAME for 500 miles on the way back. I love my new fords seats.
I had an 03 F250XL work truck and the vinyl seats weren't that great but it was a free truck ( I was a foreman at the time). I had a half of a sheepskin on the seat part and I also had one of those wooden bead seat covers (less than $20) on top of that for airflow under my legs. The seat was more bearable like that. Just my .02
