I have a 2002 Escape XLT,I just replaced the front brakes and rotors. Now the ABS light comes on.Does anybody have an idea why the light is on now.Any help would be appreciated.Mike
I know a lot of the ABS systems have a bleed procedure that is different than non ABS systems. Your best bet is to get a manual and follow the procedure to the T. And if I remember correctly, there is a recall for some of these for ABS.
mrammo, did the new rotors come with a tone ring, or did you have to transfer the old one? Or is there no tone ring on the rotors because you didn't see it?
There is a sensor that must see the teeth of the tone ring pass by as the rotor turns, and you will get the ABS light if the sensor is broken, out of place, or the tone ring is missing or has dental problems [missing teeth, etc]

The entry below corrects my mis-information about the tone ring and sensor location. tw

Reason: error
Tone ring should be on the cv shaft on the back side of hub and the abs sensor is the plug the is on the back side top of spindle.Either the tone ring cracked or the sensor got hurt.Look at the tone ring for a crack usually in the low part off ring
