where do the chips go and a question (hypermax)

when i bought the truck,it had a hyper-max 300 chip in it. The trans seems to shift out of 1st late, as in it holds first. Im wondering where the chip would plug in on the 96 in my sig. can i remove it and see if the chip is causing the shift delay?

3 bolts hold the parking brake pedal bracket in, pull those and move the bracket out of the way. You should be able to see the PCM and if there is a chip, it would be plugged into the back slot of it. Always a good idea to disconnect both neg battery cables, of if you're lazy like me, you can pull the PCM fuse under the hood (#22 IIRC??? double check that first)

Eghhh... Don't bother unhooking the batteries or any fuses. Just put your keys in your pocket and your good to go. As long as the ignition is NOT ON, then you will not have a problem. It is when you pull the chip out of the J3 port or insert a chip into the J3 port with the ignition ON that kills the PCM or the chip or both. So like I said, as long as your keys are in your pocket, your in good shape.

I can see wanting to be safe, but disconnecting the batteries for a 5 minute job... Nahhhh, not neccessary if you leave your keys in your pocket...
