Just picked up a 2010 350 6.4l. I noticed some rust spots starting to come up from the body through the paint. They're small, only a mm or two. They're on every panel and there must be 50-100 of em total. Has anyone ever experienced or heard of anything like this?? I only have about 1700 miles. Also im getting a knocking sound under my floor boards by the brake pedal when turning my steering wheel past a quarter turn and going under 30mph. 4WD isnt on and the hubs arn't locked. I love my truck but i hope this isnt setting a trend for the future of it.
Thanks Dave. I havnt heard of a single other person out there with this type of issue with the paint. Stopping by the dealership to have it checked out tommorow. I havnt had any luck in the 6.4 forum on it either.

It is hot brake dust, rotor dust to be specific lodged in the surface of your paint and then corroding. Detailers clay will remove it.
Sounds like rail dust from being transported by rail. Search that.

Both of these are correct. The rail dust can and does get embedded in the paint during transport a lot of the time. I have also heard of the problem with the brake dust as well.
And the clay bar advice is spot on. It works extremely well and you can get good quality complete clay bar kits at most retailers.
Thanks alot for the help guys. I'm heading to the dealership tomorrow afternoon. Maybe they'll take care of it if it's raildust. Prob. kinda hard to prove though. I hope thats all it is going to take to fix the issue. I was worried about an entire snadblasting and painting of every panel. Thanks again. I'll let you know how it works out.
vWEnt to the dealer today and they told me it was rail dust From having it shipped to the dealership by train. It will take a day and a half to fix and is covered by warranty. I guess it only really shows up on white vehicles. Thanks for the info guys and good luck moons. They should take care of it if you bring it in.
the other issue you reported..the clunk under neath that sounds like those items that come off the axle. I am having a brain cramp right now but they connect to the axle and then towards the rear. I'll bet that is a bushing issue.
