Thoughts on this one?
Now I'm looking into this 1971 Ranger XLT and wondering what you think: The FORDification.com Forums • View topic - 1971 Bump ranger xlt camper special 2wd Chicago area The truck's actually from Colorado, i guess- the guy brought it to Chicago. There also are bunch of good pictures at http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee78/moonlightermustangs/1971%20camper%20special/
(Password is moonlighter- I don't think the guy would mind you looking)
As you can see, it's got some surface rust to deal with, and that area on the hood, but the owner says it has no rust in the core/usual areas, and a solid body. I'm a little worried about that previous engine fire thing– it obviously has a different engine in it now, and the owner says that the 429 was mounted correctly and runs well, with no leaks, etc.
I'm looking for a daily (summer) driver- not a show car- and don't mind the way this truck looks (rust-wise) right now, if i can keep it under control. Does anyone have any thoughts on this truck? Not a ton of info, i know, but are there any huge red flags here? She's not the prettiest, but I'm strangely attracted to her.
Thanks in advance- your help is much appreciated!

A 429 pulling through 4.11 gears will get about 6 mpg, but will pull a locomotive uphill. lol With gas headed to $5.00 a gallon might be something to think about.
