Blue spring mod ???

i purchased the blue spring mod 3C3Z9T517AG and ran into a snag on the installation. There was an aqua colored O ring included in the kit and the only O ring that color I could see was in the filter assembly at the top of the black plastic piece sticking up that the fuel filter mounts onto.I removed it and ripped it on removal and found out that the aqua O ring in the kit is significantly wider in circumference and thinner. My question is,can I just run to the hardware store and grab another O ring close to this size or is it a precise fuel resistant one? Also, where does that black round plastic piece in the kit go?I did not see anything that resembled this when I disassembled mine.2005 PSD.Thanks Guys.

The black plastic piece is for an alternative model/year, I didn't use the one in my kit. I think I would get the genuine Ford "o" ring to be sure you don't get a fuel leak.

I do not know of the purchase of individiual parts. If you were able to then the spring would be purchased solely.
