Timing with stuck distributor?

Timing with stuck distributor?
I have a 56 Ford F100 with a 292 V8 Y-block. I was first going to use a vacuum gauge and then a timing light gun. After undoing the bolt that holds the hold-down clamp the distributor will not turn at all. It is definitely dirty back there and was going to spray some engine cleaner to see if that helps. Otherwise, any tips on trying to get the distributor to turn?

PB blaster may be your friend. Spray down and let sit, repeat, repeat and repeat again. Hopefully this will help. I am not familar with the Y block, all the Fords I have worked on had the distributor near the front of the engine. With it near the front if your careful you can put a pipe wrench (maybe a strap wrench) on the distributor and tap it. Be careful as the wrench can damage the casting if you are not careful. Of course you must still spray it down. Good Luck
