I can't see how the stabilizers would work behind those big fat fenders.

It's all air flow dynamics I guess. Once you look at the Bernoulli equation then it starts making a bit more sense. The basic equation is fairly simple;
v squared/2 + gz + P/d = downforce
where v is the air velocity, g is gravity, z is the elevation of a point above a reference plane, P is pressure and d is the air density.
With a little manipulation you can work the equation around to;
1/2dv square + dgz + P = downforce

Now if we let 1/2dv square = q (dynamic pressure)
and h = z + P/dg (hydraulic head)
and Total P = p + q

then with a little more manipulation and simplifying we can get the basic form of the equation; P + q = downward force

Of course out in the real world with changing elevations, air densities, acceleration, g force of the curves, etc it probably doesn't do much to the overall handling of the truck

Careful; you may need to watch your p’s & q’s.

It appears you have manual stability and traction control. Therefore, your equation could be a ticket for disaster.

I’d lay off the frosties & the lead foot, and then re-compute.

Cool Vid

Now the bad part

My driveway marks the beginning/end of the local "I'm gonna blow thru this neighborhood and show these people something strip" and I'm the local ******* who objects to the ricerockets/tuners/my pipes are louder than yours crowd and I do things to interrupt their fun.
Everything has its place and time.

Dick,

I hear ya. My neighbors are pretty forgiving. If I was doing this sort of thing on a daily basis, or when the park was full of kids, etc then someone might get upset, but in the middle of the day when no one is around, they cut me a little slack now and then.

Yea, they are a pretty good group. We've spent more than a few nights in someones garage sharing frosty beverages and swapping lies. The best things is that there is no neighborhood association.

Yah tell me about HOA... Mine pissed me off when on a Saturday morning I disconnected my trailer to take a morning class at the Community college near my house and they tagged me, So I went and bought another truck to attach the trailer to and then hooked it up to it and kept the trailer in front of my house for 6 months.... They kept asking if I was going to but it back into storage anytime soon I told them that I was once I was ready...

If I did that in front of my house, I'd have dust instead of smoke. BTW Bobby, is that a dog leash acting as a tailgate strap?

Oh, OK now that you explained it, it makes sense.

Rusty,

LOL....what can I say, I'm a city boy now. I might have to give you a call. I'm having a hard time finding center caps around here. I only have 2 of the ones that go with the mags and I figured I'd replace the set. The originals were a chrome cap that just pushes into the center hole of the wheel. I believe the center hole is 3 1/2" but I'll have to go measure it to make sure.
As for the tailgate straps, no they aren't a dog leash. I actually sewed them up myself. I went to the local surplus store and bought a few feet of nylon webbing strap and just sewed them to the length I wanted. I'm not happy with them and I'm going to make another set and this time add an adjustment buckle to I can fine tune them (and I'll use black thread this time) I just sewed them on a regular sewing machine.

Bob, Oh yea, its all about the G force of the M factor multiplied by a constant (2.3)

Bobby,
I have been thinking about the slotted wheels on my truck since I first saw it buried in the mud. I have an old Boler camper with the E.T. slotted wheels on it so intend to use the truck as a tug with matching paint etc. Glad to finally see the cool old slotted wheels in action!

Moe,

Here's a close up of the 2 worst of the Cragars. There's quite a bit of salt pitting on the center sections, and peeling chrome on the outers.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

My slotted mags aren't perfect either, they have a bit of pitting but they cleaned up pretty good. I used some of the Eagle One mag cleaner and a bruch and in just a few minutes the old yellowed mags shine right up

Marty,
I've always loved the slotted mags. My four favorite wheels are slotted mags, Cragar SS, Torque Thrust, and chrome reverse (with or without baby moons)

here is a picture of my rear rims.

I think they look great. I might have found a set for the front tires too, we shall see.

Nice!!

It would sure be coold to find some really skinny ones for the front of your truck since you are going with such a big and meaty in the rear....give it that drag racer look. You might do some asking around over at the HAMB, someone might have something that would work
