EBC Yellowstuff 3GD

I need new brakes and can't afford big brakes or 6 piston calipers. Hawk pads have too many stories of problems and it sounds like EBC pads are more effective anyway. I am leaning toward EBC Yellowstuff Truck/SUV pads because they are supposed to have the strongest bite and best performance hot and cold. Not a fan of brake dust but my wheels are already nasty. I've noticed most trucks go with the Greenstuff pads which advertise decreased performance but very low dust. I am also wanting to install new rotors but nothing cross drilled because I can't risk damaging my rotors since I expose my truck to severe conditions.

I've been searching online but cannot tell what parts numbers I need. Sites like Summit Racing show 3 different rotor sizes for the 2006 F-350 Super Duty 4x4. Sizes listed are roughly 13.4, 13.7, and 14.5" diameters. I don't have any quick and easy way to measure my rotors so I'm wondering if anyone can clarify that there really are different sized rotors. My axle donor truck had a 5.4 liter gas engine if that makes a difference. If the stock rotors are only 13.4" would I have to make any modifications to install 13.7 or 14.5" rotors? If so, what parts would I need?

Does anyone have experience with the Yellowstuff compared to the Greenstuff brake pads? What about EBC 3GD rotors? From what I've read they don't appear to be cryogenically treated like Powerslot rotors, which appear to require a couple weeks for treatment. My brakes have gotten bad fast and I tow a lot but not all of my trailers have brakes so I need a faster fix. Does anyone have an experiential rotor recommendation? I'm leaning most strongly toward EBC because they dimple instead of drilling but I'm willing to consider Powerslot or SSBC or another name brand that are at least slotted.

Where can I get the best price on EBC brakes? O'Reilly's carries them but I have yet to get prices and availability. I also plan to upgrade to stainless steel braided kevlar brake lines. Does anyone have a brand and vendor recommendation for quality brake lines at a fair price?

Thanks,
Matt

Autoanything.com

This is where I buy almost EVERYTHING for my truck and girlfriends jeep. They have excellent prices and quick shipping. I've never had an issue with them.

I too will be getting some "yellow stuff" pads for my truck. I have no first hand experience with them for the Ford, but I have a set of red stuff pads on my drag car and they are quite amazing.

After chatting with autoanything.com it seems they do not specifically carry the 3GD rotors or Yellowstuff Truck and SUV pads. Thanks for the info on the Redstuff. I've read lots of reviews from folks who say Redstuff are the only pads that are effective for severe use.

Are you saying they told you they don't carry yellow stuff pads?

Autoeverything.com does sell Yellowstuff pads but the EBC website has separate webpages for Yellowstuff pads and Yellowstuff Truck and SUV pads so I'm assuming they are different. Anyone know? Anyone have any comments on the 3GD rotors? I wonder if they will last as long as would Powerslot Cryos.

EBC 3GD vs SSBC Big Bite

Looks like the Yellowstuff is all the same. I can get EBC 3GD Rotors and front pads by late next week. Rear pads may have to be ordered. I'm not fully decided upon the 3GD rotors. It will take just as long and cost about as much for SSBC Big Bite rotors. I'm confident either brand will provide years of excellence but am hoping someone might have some input that will sway my decision either way.

SSBC Big Bite rotors are drilled and slotted. They are made of a unique metallurgical formula that is supposed to ensure they will not fatigue or crack despite being drilled all the way through. They come with a zinc plating to resist corrosion.

EBC 3GD rotors are dimpled and slotted. The dimples are to allow similar gas evacuation and cooling as being fully drilled, without sacrificing strength so there's no worry of cracking. These rotors also have cooling fins making them supposedly a little louder than stock, which I doubt will be audible competing with a 600 hp Cummins with a 5" exhaust and 37" mud tires. 3GD rotors use a black anodization for corrosion resistance.

I imagine little if any noticeable performance variance. Does anyone have experience or knowledge as to why one might be superior?
