Testing 5 speed
I'll try to summarize quickly. Installed the M5r2 a little quicker than I should have, as I didn't get the shield between the engine and the trans. I've worked one more chevy's where the shield would only be in the lower section. Anyways, it now appears I need to slide the trans back a couple inches after I remove (or not) the transfer case. I haven't topped off the fluid in the trans or transfer case - not sure how much in there, nor have I installed the master cylinder for the clutch. Anyways before I remove the trans, considering hooking up master cylinder, bleed and make sure no clutch slave or other oddities. So, am I risking any damage to a dry or partially dry trans if I start up and check engagement and do a short test - going thru the gears - rear end up off the ground ? It's a used trans just want to do a little testing and not have to remove it again ....
