personal experience is shock boots do more harm they good..
they trap moisture and mud/dirt directly against the shock shaft and work to ruin teh seal..
best option is to run em open (no boot) and run the shock with the shaft facing the bottom so nothing sits on top of the shock were the shaft enters it..
I don't agree. I run with shock boots, never had a problem. Many shock boots have a hole or slit seam, these should always face down and towards the engine. If they don't have a hole, I drill an 1/8" one. IMO
If you're going in mud/water or your area gets a lot of rain, I would run without them. Even shocks that have boots still trap funky stuff all up inside there. I can promise you that if you were to cut open the boot on a shock that actually goes off road you'd find trash in there.
I run without the boots. FWIW
Also, some shocks need to be mounted a certain direction so pay attention to the manufacturer's advice there.
I live in Vegas so I dont get alot of rain, but lots of dirt and gunk, especially when i go up into the mountains. I just got new shocks put on my truck so i was just wondering Thanks for the inputs!
