Alrighty, so i bought my bronco about a week ago, and had noticed that it felt like the brakes were dragging. I found out why when i too a look at the drivers side front. It looks like the pad was on crooked or something. Not only is the surface of the rotor all scratched/gouged/whatever but it looks like the shoulder down towards the wheel studs has been being rubbed on by the pad causing it to be gouged as well. Soooooo, i put new pads on without a new rotor or getting it turned and still the same dragging, maybe even worse.(i know that isn't the smartest thing but money is a little tight right now, and i also wasn't sure of the right way to take out the wheel bearings to even remove the damn thing). I'm pretty sure i put the pads on correctly, it seemed like the only way they could go. Could it be a problem with the caliper? or are the grooves in the worn rotor possibly pulling the pad down onto the shoulder? HELP! Its an 84 XLT
Ok new question, when I'm taking off the rotor/hub does the bearing need to come out or just the locker before the rotor/hub can be taken off of the spindle?
Ah that would've been a good idea. i ended up figuring out by just guessing haha probably not the smartest thing, but i needed to drive it to work tomorrow. Next time i will use that section for parts that are in common, for maybe a quicker response. Thanks! and man im jealous, i bet there is some great places to go in S. America in a 4x4!
