plenty have done it and ford makes it easy with a connector under the dash for you already... very easy. buy the controller and adapter and it is just plug and play.
here is a link where there is a picture of the connector under the dash:
Thanks for all these links. I pulled off the fuse cover and found a gray connector in the triangle shapped area. Hard to believe it could be that easy.
Also, I was on eTrailer and saw two types of Brake Controllers and various brands and price ranges for each type. I would be interested in anyone's recommendation. I don't have the trailer yet, but plan on towing a 30' Travvel Trailer.
I have a P3. It does an excellent job. Etrailer.com seems to have good prices, but I found a better price at adventurerv.net. Also, yeah, installation is easy, I installed mine this weekend in about an hour. Hardest part was getting my fat hands & fingers in there to plug it in. I used Command strips to attach it to the dash so I didnt have to drill any holes in it. I saw some folks have put them in the little cubby also.
The Prodigy is a great controller and is incredibly easy to install since the included wiring harness is plenty long enough to reach the truck's connector meaning no splicing or Ford pigtail neeed.
