I just bought a Sony Xplod stereo that I am installing myself. I got the old stereo out, pulled the wiring harness, spliced the new wires together etc... I hooked everything up in the truck and it worked just fine. As I was sliding the stereo into the slot i sort of shoved the wires in behind it and it stopped working. I checked my connections and sure enough my yellow power line had come undone. I fixed that connection and it still didnt work. I redid all of my connections (I figured the speaker line etc connections wouldnt keep it from turning on, but I figured I might as well re do all of my connections). Anyway, the stereo wont turn on at all now. I checked the fuse and it appears to be fine, as does the radio fuse in the truck. I'm stumped at this point as to what to do next. Any advice?
So it turns out the ignition power and ground were working so we narrowed it down to the constant power (yellow) line. We then just ran a new line of wire with an inline fuse directly to one of the batteries. Now I think it may have just been a blown fuse after all. I pulled the fuse and it looked intact, but i didnt have a tester. After testing it the fuse was blown after all. Oh well, atleast I now have a line with constant power, should I need it for something else now.
